In conjunction with the Mizusensen exhibition, we held an event exclusively for TOKO CLUB members, "Water and Flower Arranging Workshop," on Saturday, September 2nd.
At this event, six participants enjoyed fresh flowers in a nageire arrangement.
At the beginning of the workshop, the workshop's organizer, Tokoya store manager Yumiko Tsukamoto, gave a talk about "Nageire no Hana."
"Nageire no Hana" is a style of arranging flowers that suits one's lifestyle, using the container and flowers as a teacher to enjoy them.
We explained that even after cutting down plants from nature, we can still enhance their beauty and make the most of them, even more so than when they were in the wild, and enjoy the drama of nature and the spirit of flowers.
In this workshop, participants enjoyed arranging flowers in two different vases, a wide-mouthed one and a narrow-mouthed one, while also learning about the differences in how to arrange flowers.
First, start with a wide-mouth vase.
Participants were asked to choose their favorite works from the works on display at the exhibition venue and arrange them in their own way.
Fill a wide-mouthed container with water as if you were going to put it in.
The tension in the heart becomes the tension in the water. I enjoyed filling the water with flowers and adding them to it.
After arranging the flowers in wide-mouthed vessels, participants will display each of their arrangements in the tokonoma alcove for an appreciation session.
We shared the joy and new insights we gained from the flowers others had arranged.
After viewing the artwork, you can place it in a narrow-mouthed vase.
The way the flowers are arranged is very different from wide-mouthed vessels, and I think you were able to enjoy not only the flowers but also the different vessels.
Each narrow-mouthed vessel was displayed on the tokonoma alcove and an appreciation session was held.
The atmosphere changed dramatically depending on the type of flowers and vessels chosen.
Time flies when you're having fun.
Although the event went a little over schedule, we had a very meaningful time with everyone who participated, sharing flowers and pottery.
We would like to thank you again for your participation.
This was the first time that TOKO CLUB held an event with a fresh flower theme. If there is another opportunity, we hope you will feel free to participate.
