Event "Camellia Tea Ceremony"
Exhibition | Camellia Vessel
Inspired by the Hyakubinkae (One Hundred Bottle Flower Festival) held in grand style at Kyoto's Daiun-in Temple in September 1599, the Toko's "Camellia and One Hundred Bottle Flower Festival" features camellias arranged in Mashiko ware vases to celebrate the arrival of spring and the Doll Festival.
Camellias are revered as sacred trees and have been loved by the Japanese since ancient times.
Perhaps because both Rikyu and Hideyoshi favored using it in the tea ceremony, it remains a representative tea flower today.
